As Ontario employers prepare for major changes under Bill 149, the Ontario Printing and Imaging Association (OPIA) is pleased to welcome Nicole Biros-Bolton, employment and human rights lawyer and founder of Bird Bolt Law, as the featured presenter for our upcoming webinar, “Hiring in Ontario is Changing. Are You Ready?”
Nicole’s path to law was inspired by advocacy. At just seventeen, she began working with survivors of gender-based violence as a volunteer at a rape crisis centre. By eighteen, she was taking overnight crisis calls and providing support to victims navigating the court system. Her early experiences revealed the deep need for compassion, fairness, and reform — principles that continue to guide her work today.
A Legal Practice Built on Empathy and Action
Before establishing Bird Bolt Law, Nicole’s journey took her from Canada to England, where she studied law with a mission to challenge failing systems and uphold human rights. She returned to Toronto to lead anti-human trafficking programs, support survivors, and provide legal guidance with empathy at its core. These experiences shaped her approach to practicing law — one that combines insight, humanity, and results.
At Bird Bolt Law, Nicole focuses on employment and human rights law, helping clients navigate workplace challenges with dignity and understanding. Her approach is grounded in both compassion and efficiency — leveraging technology, including AI, to deliver timely, accessible legal services without the adversarial tone often associated with legal disputes.
Leading Employers Through Change
Nicole’s upcoming webinar with OPIA will provide employers, HR professionals, and business leaders with a clear understanding of the legislative changes introduced by Bill 149 — from pay transparency to AI disclosures and candidate communication requirements. She will break down what’s changing, what it means for Ontario employers, and the practical steps needed to stay compliant.
“This legislation reshapes how organizations recruit and engage candidates,” says Nicole. “Employers will need to review their policies, postings, and hiring processes to ensure compliance and maintain fair, transparent practices.”
